TheKV-1was a Soviet heavy tank used in World War II, known for itsthick armourthat made it nearly impervious to early German anti-tank weapons. Armed with a76.2mm gun, it could effectively engage enemy tanks and fortifications.

Introduced in 1939, the KV-1 played a key role during theinitial stages of the German invasion of the USSR, where its armor outclassed most German tanks. However, it wasslow and mechanically unreliable, and as German anti-tank capabilities improved, its advantage declined.

Despite its limitations, the KV-1 helped delay German advances in 194142 and contributed to Soviet heavy tank development, leading to designs like theIS serieslater in the war.
